For 1957 Chevrolet cars
For 1957, Chevrolet engineers provided additional adjustment for the stretching cables by removing the inner cowl panel used on previous model years. In order to create the correct geometry, the system for 1957 cars includes a five piece metal bridge assembly with adjustments designed to fit any 1957 Chevy car with the following exception:
- Cross-mount master cylinders will not fit with our RainGear system installed.
The kit comes complete less assembly lube, arms and blades, escutcheons and model-specific knobs for the switch. All those stock pieces will fit on our system. Escutcheons are the exterior trim bezels which cover the pivot posts in the cowl and are available separately, see below.
Please note that the RainGear unit cannot be controlled by any General Motors column-mounted wiper switches. You must use the included switch. This is due to the fact that GM switches control the wiper motor via the ground wire and our systems must be controlled by switching the positive wire.
Wiring diagrams and installation instructions are available on our Documents Page.
This system is also available upon request in a version for installing in right-hand drive cars for those of you that drive on the "other" side of the road. Pricing on RHD systems is the same as the regular LHD version.
